‘Twas the Night Before DragonCon – The Unique Geek

0

A poem by Michael Bailey from “Views from the Longbox“…

Twas The Night Before DragonCon
And All Through the Listserv
Not a Creature Was Stirring
Not even, uh, Serv

The Geeks Should Have Been Snuggled
Up Tight In Their Beds
With Visions of Costumes and Comics And Movies
Dancing Through Their Heads

And Rachel In Her Nightmare Before Christmas PJs
And I In My Superman Sleep Shorts
Had Just Settled In
For a Night of Sleep of Sorts

When All of a Sudden
There Rose Such a Clatter
I Sprang From My Bed
To See What Was The Matter

Away to the Front Door
I Flew Like the Flash
Not Barry Allen, of course
But Man I Did Dash

The Porch Light it Did Shine
Like the Noon Day Sun
And From Inside the Door I Yelled
“Fair Warning, Jackass, I Do Have a Gun!”

When What To My Wondering Eye Should Appear
But Jon in a Mini-Van With The Other Geeks in the Rear
I Knew In That Moment It Was a Mistake
To Leave My Address for the Irredeemable To Take

Faster Than Most Out of Shape Geeks Should Be Able
The Van’s Occupants Were Seated At My Table
There was Shag, Jon and Serv and Even ScottC
Rox, Widgett and Simon All Wanting Hi-C

My Wife She Made Such a Wonderful Feast
Which the Geeks Ate Up Quickly Like a Gaggle of Beasts
And Like They Were Back In They Van so Unique
Off To They City For Hotel Rooms To Seek

And As They Drove Away Into The Night
I Sat There and Wondered….

WHO THE HELL STOLE MY ABOSOLUTE WATCHMEN! IT WAS HERE BEFORE THOSE GEEKS WERE IN MY HOUSE AND NOW IT’S GONE.
